Montreal is a hockey city. Its professional hockey team, the Canadiens play at the Bell Centre at 1260 De la Gauchetière West (between Metro Lucien L’Allier and Bonaventure). The Montreal Canadiens (also called the Habs) have won 24 Stanley Cup Championships in the past 100 years, more than any other team. The season goes from September until April, but the playoffs for the Stanley Cup continue until June. If you want to get tickets try www.admission.com, but it is sometimes difficult to get tickets. You can watch games on TV on CBC on Saturday nights, or more often on TSN or RDS (in French).
The Concordia Stingers is the name of Concordia’s men’s and women’s hockey teams. The season if from October to February. They play exciting, high-level hockey, and you can see a game at the arena (PE building) at Loyola Campus for just $3 (with a student card). You can take the free shuttle bus from in front of the Hall Building to the Loyola Campus.
In the Fall and Winter session, some teachers from our school usually organize a Hockey Night at Concordia, and take students to a game. Ask your teacher about it.
