Tourtière is a traditional Quebec meat pie. It is made with ground pork and/or veal (beef from a young cow). Quebec families traditionally eat tourtière at Christmas or New Year’s. Many families have favourite recipe for the meat pie, but you can also buy them frozen in the supermarket. There is a type of tourtière from the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean region that uses larger pieces of meat (not ground) and potatoes in the pie. They sometimes also use deer meat.
